MY CALL TO ACTION

JEN PELLINGRA LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST

(914) 557-4844

Licensed by the state of New York in 2004

The importance of self-care and the need for personal wellness goals has become incredibly clear. We are all too accustomed to using a "stress response" in life. The need for change is reflected in the growing number of yoga studios, days spas and practitioners of anything from Chiropractic to Reiki. It's as vital these days to engage a healing path as it is to have a regular oil change. It's now time for us, as self-actualizing individuals, to treat our bodies like the temples they are, and to choose our Patron Bodyworkers!

Our nerves are like a switchboard. We are the operators. It's time to go to operator school.

As a bodyworker, and, like most practitioners, my approach to wellness is super-multi-faceted. For every individual person there are infinite layers of healing and countless methods of working through them. But, I can simplify: I use a blend of different massage techniques ranging from Swedish to Polarity Therapy to, first and foremost, help you reach a state of pure, nervous system grade relaxation. That, i believe, is the most beneficial part of receiving massage; disengaging from your stress, penetrating through layers of anxiety, and activating a very real state of rest. It is In this state that much healing and repair takes place in your body. You will know when you are there, there's no mistaking it. It is my wish to guide and assist everyone I can into this place of real relaxation.

"Connective Tissue Conforms to Life Experience"

from my anatomy instructor Tammi Sweet

My techniques are also impeccable for reducing pain. In every session I perform some degree of deep tissue work to ensure an opening of tissue and promote release. Contact with even deeper muscles can occur with polarity therapy and acupressure. Tightly knotted muscles often have a reduced blood flow, so massage can raise circulation and bring blood back to crunchy tissue. As muscles and connective tissues open, toxins and metabolic waste are taken away in the freshly flowing bloodstream. This is how your muscle detoxify. Oh man I could go on and on so I'll just say that I'm really good at making this happen.

My Mission Statement

Since i believe this work can help everyone it's important that I can make it accessible to all. My rates are as low as they're going to go and I bring my full being into the session. My hours are flexible and my availability is broad. I am open to working with the client on many levels of healing; from neck rubs to chakra balancing, from in-and-out sessions to pouring over the details and laying out a treatment plan. My practice is flexible enough to accommodate all who are on some part of the healing path from injuries to past life trauma. Regardless of class or income my work is accessible to all.

I use a blend of the following massage techniques: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Reflexology, Shiatsu/Acupressure, Polarity Therapy, Energy Palpation, Medical Massage, and other more obscure things.

Other modalities include Pre-Natal Massage (for those pre-natal situations), Supportive Touch Therapy (used for precarious health situations like cancer and fibromyalgia), Connective Tissue Therapy, Kinesthetic Awareness Through Movement or K. A.M. and some other stuff.

There's so much that goes on with this work; mind/body/spirit matters are touched upon and all kinds of things. The body being the most master-minded mechanism in the universe (that we know of) it would be ridiculous to cram all my thoughts into this page. That is why I circulate a newsletter a few times a year. People seem to like it. If you would like to receive this newsletter then drop your name and address in an e-mail to jenpellingra@yahoo.com. If you currently receive my newsletter and would like to be removed from the mailing list then you also can drop an e-mail.

You have 37 miles of nerves in your body.

I also provide chair massage for "ON-LOCATION" events such as parties, office situations, openings and whatever. If you think that a massage therapist would be a hit at your event then you're thinking right!
